Why Funding Through Learn2Bowl, Inc.

Multiplies A Foundation’s Or Donor’s Investment

A foundation considering support for Bowler’s Ed has two possible paths: fund an individual school directly, or fund the same school through Learn2Bowl. Both approaches can place an important resource in the hands of children, but funding through Learn2Bowl creates an additional level of charitable impact that extends beyond the schools named in the grant.

When funding goes directly to a school, the primary benefit understandably remains with that school. When funding flows through Learn2Bowl, the foundation still accomplishes that immediate objective—the school receives Bowler’s Ed and students receive the experience—but the investment also helps strengthen a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing that opportunity to additional schools and communities.

In effect, the foundation can accomplish two objectives with the same investment: help children in the schools funded today while increasing Learn2Bowl’s capacity to reach children in schools that have not yet been funded.

Every successful Bowler’s Ed placement helps Learn2Bowl build the infrastructure necessary for expansion. It creates relationships with educators, implementation experience, participation data, teacher and principal evaluations, student-impact stories, community partnerships, and evidence that the program can be successfully replicated. These become valuable assets when Learn2Bowl approaches the next foundation, business, civic organization, or individual donor.

THE MULTIPLIER EFFECT

Foundation Investment → Schools Served → Children Reached → Results Documented →
Learn2Bowl Strengthened → New Partners Attracted → Additional Schools Served

This is particularly important because the greatest long-term value of Bowler’s Ed is not simply the equipment being placed in a school. It is the creation of a sustainable educational experience through which children can practice perseverance, patience, responsibility, cooperation, encouragement, respect, sportsmanship, and positive responses to both success and disappointment. Once placed in a school, Bowler’s Ed can be used repeatedly with new groups of students, allowing the original investment to continue producing benefits without requiring the original equipment investment to be repeated each year.

Learn2Bowl also provides something that individual school grants cannot easily provide: a bridge between the foundation’s charitable intent and a larger, replicable strategy.

Learn2Bowl can identify schools, coordinate implementation, encourage the character-education purpose of the program, document participation, gather educator narratives, demonstrate results, and use those results to open doors for the next community.

What additional good can become possible because this grant was made?

For an emerging nonprofit, early foundation partners can have an especially significant influence. Their support does more than finance a project. It establishes credibility, demonstrates that respected philanthropic organizations see value in the mission, creates a record of successful implementation, and gives Learn2Bowl the evidence needed to attract additional support. A foundation can therefore help move Learn2Bowl from individual school placements toward a sustainable model capable of serving communities on a much larger scale.

Funding a school creates an opportunity in that school. Funding that school through Learn2Bowl creates the same opportunity while helping build the organization that can carry it to the next school, the next community, and the next generation of children.

The goal is not to make Learn2Bowl permanently dependent upon foundation support. The goal is to use early philanthropic investment to create capacity, credibility, evidence, partnerships, and momentum that allow the mission to grow.

A grant to Learn2Bowl is an investment in the children served today—and in Learn2Bowl’s ability to reach many more children tomorrow.
